The History of Reiki

The History of Reiki

It is believed that Reiki originated with the planet that also brought the many-armed gods and goddesses to Earth, the root culture of what became pre-patriarchal India. The Indian God we know today as Shiva, female at that time, was responsible for bringing Reiki here, and s/he wants tobe remembered for the gift. When the human body for this planet was designed, Reiki was incorporated into the genetic coding as a birthright to all people. Children of early Earth, in the civilization we call Mu today, received Reiki training throughout their schooling. However, when the people of its root culture left the mainland of Mu to colonize what is now India and Tibet, Reiki continued with them, though Mu was eventually lost.

In the nineteenth century a Japanese man sought the origins of Jesus’ and the Buddha’s method of healing, he found them in the ancient remnants of Shiva’s early culture, in the esoteric teachings of India. Reiki was rediscovered by Mikao Usui (1865–1926). Dr. Mikao Usui was born in an era of great change for Japan, just as it was emerging from 200 years of isolation from other countries. His family was part of Hatamoto Samurai which is a high rank within the Samurai system. As a child, he studied martial arts in a Tendai temple, and afterward, he developed interests of all kinds, from history, psychology, esoteric arts of divination and incarnation.Dr. Mikao Usui wanted to develop a system to help the individual to reconnect with their innate spirituality. The healing with the hands was only one aspect of his original ideas, which were influenced by the traditional belief and philosophies. After fasting and meditating for 21 days on the mount Koriyama, Kurama Yama inspired by the Buddha’s Lotus Dharma, he began hallucinating and hearing voices giving him “the keys to healing”, a divine attunement. Then he founded the society The Usui Reiki Ryôhô Gakkai, The Usui Energy Healing method in 1922 where he would teach the students first the five spiritual principles, then meditation and mantras. Only later on, in 1926 he introduced hands-on healing in the practice.
